On the Iowa Test of Basic Skills® (ITBS ®), ALL grades achieved composite scores above the national average in both total math and reading.

By the time our students reach the 3rd grade, their fall test scores reflect a grade equivalent of 3.9.  That trend widens to 6.5 for 5th graders, 10.1 for 7th, and 11.3 for 8th graders*.  (*composite class scores rather than individual student scores)

Unlike our public counterparts, we test in the fall, and then use the data to guide the year’s instruction—to see where we need to focus instructional efforts—and not merely to measure what students have learned after the fact.  Individual scores are shared with parents at conferences.  The principal and staff review ITBS scores each year to identify trends and possible issues.
