Homework in third grade is pretty straightforward. You can usually expect a spelling and math assignment Monday through Wednesday. Thursday we take our weekly spelling test so there will not be spelling homework that night, but there should be a math assignment. Along with spelling and math each night, students are expected to read for 20 to 30 minutes. I understand that some weeks are crazier than others, so students are welcome to do their homework ahead of time, but I ask that they do not turn it in until the day it is due. Each week I create lesson plans of what I believe we will cover in class. There will be times that we cover more than planned and there may be times that we don’t get as far as I thought. On those rare occasions I will try to get on the website and update the homework page. Students are told every day what their homework is, so trust your child over the website. Remember I send home a weekly report each Friday letting you know if your child has any missing work for the week and how they did on any tests taken that week. Please sign the report and send it back to class on Monday. Summer vacation is finally here! Incoming 3rd graders don't forget to do 2 stories a week form the reading packet I gave you. You also need to practice your math facts everyday and do at least 1 page a week from the math packet. If you didn't get a packet please go to the school's front office and pick one up. The school will be open until July 2nd. Outgoing 3rd graders you too have work to do. You need to read the assigned book, Charlotte's Web, and complete the book and oral report for it. I expect all of you to come in and ace your math facts tests right from the start. You and I both know that you know them and so it would probably be a good idea to work on them all summer long. Remember the math book I gave you is for you to continue to keep those math skills sharp. The book does not need to be completed, but what can it hurt for you to work on a page or two each week all summer long? I have been very proud of how far we got in Math this year, and I want to continue to see you fly in that area next year. Enjoy your summer. |
