FIELD TRIP FRIDAY TO SACRAMENTO

 Washington D.C.!!!!!! Hope you had a wonderful trip. Remember your journals are due this week!

BOOK REPORT:. 4th quarter book report is as follows: The 8th grade students are required to read 800 pages. The students will track their reading and the parents will sign off for verification. Students have their tracking sheets. We will have a Middle School Book Day in early June. The students will design a tee shirt illustrating one of the books they have read. These shirts will be worn that day. Prizes will be awarded to students who have read above and beyond the required amount.

Literature:.. MYTHOLOGY We will be studying the Greek myths in Latin and in English. The students will also be writing their own myths and designing a picture of a god/goddess. There is also a short paper which presents the story of their god It is an amazing unit.,

SPEECH PROJECT: This year's topic is "A time when volunteers made a difference". The students will be receiving an information sheet with all the due dates on Tuesday. It must be signed and returned so I know that you are aware of this project. The speech will be 3 to 5 minutes in length and the students may use notecards. Ecah of the 4 segments will be thoroughly explained. The assignments are in one week intervals. The first segment is the topic and research due Tuesday, May 1st. Thank you for your attention.The rough draft is due Tuesday, the 22nd.

There will be Daily Oral Language each week. .This week is Unit 29. The quiz is Thursday, May 17th .

Spelling/Vocabulary: Unit 15. . Definitions are due Thursday, May 17th. Spelling test is Wed. May 23rd and the vocab test is the 25th. We are on unit 21 of Greek and Latin words. 

Religion:  We have started a new book, Liturgy and Worship. We are on Chapter 7.. There will be a quiz on each chapter.

Please sign all tests and quizzes and return them promptly. This assures me that you are aware of your child's progress. .

This is a very important year. High school placements are determined by grades and teacher recommendations. Do your very best
